Internship opportunity with the International Hearing Dog

I am the Development Coordinator for International Hearing Dog (IHDI), a Colorado based non-profit organization. Located in Henderson (20-25 minutes from Downtown Denver), our mission is to train dogs to assist deaf or hard-of-hearing persons, with or without multiple disabilities, at no cost to the recipient. All our Hearing Dogs are rescued from local animal shelters, cared for, and trained at our facility in Henderson, Colorado. A Hearing Dog is the “ears” of those individuals who cannot hear sounds we often take for granted as well as those specialized sounds that cue us to respond. Each special Hearing Dog helps to restore awareness, confidence, independence and security, without the recipient having to rely on family, friends or electronic devices to hear sounds in the home and in public. This year, we have celebrated our 31st anniversary, placed our 1,100th Hearing Dog and have already placed 11 Hearing Dogs in nine states. We have a lot to be thankful for! As such, I am emailing you, the Colorado Film School to inquire about a possible internship opportunity for your students. We currently have a 12 minute video about IHDI but it is very outdated and we are hoping to have a new one produced around the same time (10 to 14 minutes) as well as a short one; no longer than 2 minutes. However, as a very small non-profit with a staff of only five and a limited budget, we cannot afford to pay someone for this very valuable service. It is my hope that for a student project or internship, a group of your students could make a video for us. I am not sure if this is even something your school allows but I wanted to put the offer out there for any passionate students who care for dogs or the hearing impaired communities. Making a new video would be a huge gift to us and a great asset to IHDI's ability to spread the word about we do and educate people on the importance of Hearing Dogs. If you could let me know if this may be a possibility and there is a particular individual, staff or professor I could get in touch with, I would greatly appreciate it. My email is ihdilisa@aol.com or you can contact me at our office at 303.287.3277. Thank you so much for your patience and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you! Best, Lisa Brady IHDI

Videographer Requested

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Sharla Williams and I am the New Schools Coordinator (school counselor) for Youth Opportunity Academy. I am employed by Colorado Youth for a Change, the agency which does the recruiting of students for the program.

Youth Opportunity Academy is a high school diploma program for young adults ages 18-20 which is provided by Denver Public Schools and Aims Community College. The program gives students who have dropped out of school the opportunity to receive their diploma within a year or less.

The program began August 19, 2009 and I’m very proud to announce that we are preparing for a graduation for over 30 students! These students will receive their high school diploma and a WorkKeys Certificate. The graduation ceremony for these students will take place on May 27, 2010 at 6:30pm. The venue for this event is Manual High School, located at: 1700 E. 28th Ave. Denver, CO 80205.

Since this is YOA’s second and biggest graduation, we would love to record the ceremony. Therefore, I am looking for an individual or team who be able to record the entire ceremony for minimal or no compensation at all. The ceremony will be an hour and a half long. I am also a graduate from University of Colorado Denver, so I know the importance of having different types of experience.

If you know anyone who would be interested in this opportunity, please contact me at 720.297.9254.

We could easily get it done in a day. I'll even provide a delicious organic lunch for you and your crew! We need the videos complete by around the 22nd of May. Amateur quality is ok!

We're fun to work with and you can use our success with this project as a great addition to your resume.
