Requirements for editing position: Deep knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7, Compressor, After Effects CS5. Organizational know how for file structuring or ability to be able to follow a set structure. This is highly important when working with up to 10 hours of footage for each course shot. Intended output is 3-4 weeks after shooting. This means 40+ hours a week for each course. We will be shooting 8-10 courses between now and June and will need more than one editor as many of these courses are shot back to back and need to be cut simultaneously. Will work with a copy editor to implement lower thirds and side slides as well as animations that reinforce the information being presented. While very straightforward and simple in terms of the overall cut, the titling and graphics process is where the creativity can shine.
Requirements for PA position: Basic lighting knowledge, ability to follow a very strict procedure for logging and binning up to 10 hours of footage and prepare it for immediate cutting after shooting. Attention to continuity is a huge requirement. Set experience is also a must, shoots usually last from 9 am - 7 pm, 3 days at a time, usually occuring Monday-Wednesdays. The material is very long-winded, but we try to keep sets fun and keep the instructor engaged as much as possible so the material does not become dull.
Pay
Editor: $1700 - $2000 per course, depending on experience as well as speed.
PA: $150/day, lunch included.
The PA could also be the editor, having someone carry the project all the way through would be great, but not an absolute.
